Sports Project Week at KGS Josefschule in Beuel<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

So many promising words: Sport, Project, and Week.<\/div>\n
Yes, for a week we got to present and share our passion for rugby.<\/div>\n
A really great project where the children could try out numerous different sports activities:<\/div>\n
\n

  • Lacrosse<\/li>\n
  • Ultimate Frisbee<\/li>\n
  • Parkour Run<\/li>\n
  • Fitness Boot Camp<\/li>\n
  • Fencing<\/li>\n
  • and much more <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
    Of course, rugby<\/u><\/b> too, that’s why we were there.<\/div>\n
    I would have loved to try one or two things myself, but we were there to share the fun.<\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    There was a weekly schedule, and we had created a plan for each session.<\/div>\n
    Three classes per day were supposed to start with us.<\/div>\n
    Due to the extreme heat, the third sessions were canceled each day. The decision was right and good. <\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    So, what did we do?<\/div>\n
    First, we found a spot on the artificial turf pitch at Franz-Elbern-Stadion.<\/div>\n
    We laid out a few cones to mark the field and positioned our helpers Lara and Ritchy.<\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    Each group was welcomed.<\/div>\n
    After a brief introduction, we always moved on to the first exercise with the ball.<\/div>\n
    No matter if it was 1st grade, 4th grade, or teachers, everyone managed it equally well, and so the first foundation for playing was laid.<\/div>\n
    In between, there was always time to refresh and drink, during which the basic rules were explained.<\/div>\n
      \n
    • Pass only backwards<\/li>\n
    • Stop the ball carrier (Tackle \/ Tag \/ Touch)<\/li>\n
    • Place the ball in the try zone = TRY and thus points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      After that, Lara and Ritchy came around the corner and happily let all the children tackle them. Phew, those two were really exhausted after each day. <\/div>\n

      Refresh again and learn about the different rugby game formats:<\/div>\n

      • 15s<\/li>\n
      • 7s (Olympic)<\/li>\n
      • the day<\/li>\n
      • Touch<\/li>\n
      • Ameland<\/li>\n
      • Rolly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        To name just a few.<\/div>\n

        Then each class had their first chance to play in a Touch Rugby game (2 hands).<\/div>\n

        The captains got to choose: ball or side!<\/p><\/div>\n

        It started, and everything was there<\/div>\n

        • Great passes<\/li>\n
        • Outsmarted opponents<\/li>\n
        • Good defensive lines that no one could break through<\/li>\n
        • Amazing tries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          A little song, high five, and see you soon for goodbye.<\/p>\n
