2nd Haka Camp inspires kids and parents<\/h1>\n
The Haka<\/span> Rugby Global Camp was also a guest in Bonn at Whitsun 2025.<\/p>\n

The exciting adventure gave a deep insight into the fascinating world of Maori culture and the New Zealand way of rugby training.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

But how did it come about, what was it like and what remains? We conducted a few interviews with participants. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Hello participants, you were part of the camp and obviously enjoyed it. Would you like to answer three questions so that others can find out what it was like? <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Answer: Yep.<\/div>\n

Why did you come to the HAKA<\/span> Rugby Camp?<\/i><\/div>\n
L: I came to the Hakka Rugby Camp because it was really nice last year. The community was great, everyone was very friendly. We always had a laugh, it was always funny. And my favorite team is the New Zealand team. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
H: I’ve often seen the haka<\/span> on TV and was really curious when our coaches and counselors told me about the camp.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\n
M: I wanted to see how the New Zealanders play rugby and dance the haka<\/span>.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

I: I came to the haka<\/span> camp because I’ve often watched the haka<\/span> and wanted to play rugby at the same time. So I was really excited when I heard from our club that the Haka<\/span> Camp was being held here in Bonn again. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

O: Because I was there last time and I had a lot of fun.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

What did you particularly like?<\/i><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\n
O: Playing rugby with the other children.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
I: I really enjoyed the training. It was exciting to learn about the different techniques and rules of rugby and to play together with the other children. The coaches were super friendly and showed us a lot. But the cultural part was also particularly fascinating for me. It was impressive to see the haka<\/span> live and even learn it myself.
\nThe camp was very varied and exciting overall. It wasn’t just about playing rugby, but also about getting to know a fascinating culture. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
M: I particularly enjoyed learning the haka<\/span> and training with the tackle. It was exciting and fun! Parents, supervisors and coaches took care of everything. <\/div>\n

H: The camp was just great! I especially enjoyed the fact that we were able to play rugby for so long and learned a lot of new things. I felt really comfortable the whole time and had a lot of fun with the other kids. It was also great that we were able to experience New Zealand rugby – that was really exciting! <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

L: I particularly liked the hakka dance, you just have to be able to do it. It’s funny to stick your tongue out in front of the others all the time. Our trainer with the wooden axe was really cool. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
How would you recommend this experience to others?<\/i><\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
I: I can highly recommend the camp. It’s not only a great opportunity to play rugby, but also to learn a lot about an interesting culture. The whole team – including our club – helped together. The training is a lot of fun. I’m really looking forward to the next time! <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

M: I’ve already told my friends about it and now they want to watch rugby too. That was a really great experience! <\/p>\n

O: To show the tricks we have learned to the other children in the club.<\/div>\n
\nH: I’ve already told some friends at the rugby club how great it was and they should definitely come along next time. It was the best camp! <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

L: I would definitely recommend the camp. Unfortunately, the other kids in my school class aren’t as brave: they think rugby is just about knocking others down. But in reality it’s a team sport, you could never win without a team. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
