After a well-deserved summer break, SG BiBo (Bielefeld-Bonn) went to Kaiserslautern on September 6 for the first tournament of the new season in Division B West. The team had a good mix of experienced and inexperienced players, some of whom were playing their first league tournament. For the new Division B, i.e. the second division, it was just right. The many newcomers to the Bonn team also have a good chance of finding their feet here. It was also a special tournament for our two experienced players Leonie (Bonn) and Cora (Bielefeld), as they were playing as captains for the first time and did their job with flying colors. <\/p>\n
In the first game, SG BiBo faced a familiar team in D\u00fcsseldorf. The SG started with a lot of commitment, but faced the great challenge of organizing the newly formed team with its partly still inexperienced players. The D\u00fcsseldorf players had already been able to settle in during their first game and so they won narrowly but successfully by 17:10. <\/p>\n
In the second game, the team faced SG Mainz-Heusenstamm. SG BiBo had finally settled in a little and the team got into a better flow and showed more creativity. Unfortunately, the game was overshadowed by two injuries to both teams in quick succession due to the hard pitch, resulting in a lengthy interruption to the game to water the pitch. In the end, SG Mainz-Heusenstamm ran out deserved winners by 29:15. <\/p>\n
The third game against SG KaiserBr\u00fccken was a close one. The team showed very good forward momentum and scored a particularly impressive try with a scissor kick! It was all the more annoying that their opponents scored one more try and secured victory with a final score of 15:10. <\/p>\n
The fourth and final game was probably the most difficult opponent, the eventual tournament winners. Even though Karlsruhe won the game 34:5 in the end, it should be emphasized that the team fought bravely despite increasing exhaustion and the late summer temperatures and was at least able to lay off once in the opponent’s field. <\/p>\n
While SG BiBo were ultimately unable to secure a win against the opposing teams, they scored 1-3 tries in every game and the new players Sina, Jesse, Karla, Johanna (all Bonn) and Henriette (Bielefeld) in particular did a great job and gained a lot of experience. Our try scorers were Anna, Leonie (both Bonn) and Malin (Bielefeld), who scored several tries in the paint. <\/p>\n
