Maya, Alice, Merle and Marie took part.

The U15s got off to a strong start in the tournament and won all of their matches. The team, which was severely weakened by injuries, played in the final against SG Heidelberg on the day and unfortunately had to concede defeat after a tough battle. However, the support from the injured players and parents on site was fantastic. Alice performed strongly throughout the year and was able to control the game as 9/sweeper, excelling in particular with good line breaks, support runs and tackles. The performance of Lilly, who only celebrated her comeback in March and demonstrated her athleticism, understanding of the game and contact dominance in tournaments in Berlin and Munich, was also special. Merle celebrated her debut in Munich in March and had some strong moments throughout the tournament, which makes you want more for next year!

The U18s, who had not lost a game all year, were supposed to play against SG Bayern, Berlin and Potsdam, but as Bayern were unable to travel due to injury, a spontaneous change was made and they played Potsdam and Berlin twice each. All three teams improved over the course of the year, with the girls from Potsdam in particular always managing to create danger and exert pressure from open play. Led by captain Emma, however, the team managed to win all four games by a clear margin. However, it was by no means easy, as Potsdam managed to score the first try in both games. In the end, they won the German championship and used the tournament very successfully to prepare for the state association championship the following week.

Maya was one of the team’s most consistent players throughout the year and never missed a tournament. Her versatility, game overview and contact dominance made her one of the top performers, whether at 1,2 or 6. Marie joined the team at the tournament in Wiedenbrück and quickly managed to collect minutes. In Munich, she was the captain of the second SG that competed that day and was able to underline her talent with good physicality and strong kicks. Alia and Franka made their debuts in Wiedenbrück. Franka often managed to showcase her speed and play good passes in limited playing time. She had several try assists in her very first tournament. Alia always showed good actions, especially defensively, and was also able to gain a lot of experience in four games in Munich.

It is particularly noteworthy that the group has not only grown over the season, but that the long away trips have always been real highlights. This allowed them to see and experience several major German cities, in some cases for the first time. The support from the club and the parents was always great, as was the constant cooperation with Wiedenbrück in the person of Nicole. Next year, all of the above will be playing in the U18s and working hard to have an equally great year.

Test: Jan Unkelbach

Great season for junior teams On Saturday, 03.05.25, the girls from Bonn went to Potsdam, where they wanted to defend their hard-earned first place with the Wiedenbrückers from the league tournaments at the German Championships in the U15 and U18 age groups.
