Hello from the north! It’s Saturday, April 12. The Bonn women are playing their first official tournament of the second half of the season, this time in a new constellation together with Liga Nord. The Freibeuter Wismar have invited us to the “most beautiful rugby pitch in Germany” with a view of the Baltic Sea (of course, we Rhinelanders know that there is only one true rugby pitch). <\/p>\n
The well-known Dragonettes from D\u00fcsseldorf and many new faces, including SV Odin from Hanover, SG Hanse Ostsee and SG BOB from Braunschweig, Bremen and Oldenburg, will be taking part on this sunny Saturday. And of course we must not forget the most important team: the syndicate from Bonn and Bielefeld (“SG BiBo”). <\/p>\n
For all those who don’t want to read on: SG BiBo passed the acid test against the new teams, but had to lose a few feathers.<\/p>\n
Now to the most important part – the PLAYS.<\/p>\n
Kick-off is at 11 a.m. against the Dragonettes from D\u00fcsseldorf. And it’s already getting exciting: Beni scores two tries after strong runs. And prevents several tries from D\u00fcsseldorf with try-saving tackles. But the opponents are strong, scoring three tries in the game. Anna and Liz also score tries – done! On the field, it becomes apparent that the kick master Fredda is missing: only one of four raises is successful. Nevertheless, Vanessa put in a strong performance! It doesn’t matter for the final score: SG BiBo starts the tournament with a proud 22:15. <\/p>\n
After a short break, the game continues shortly after 12 noon against SV Odin from Hanover. The BiBos struggled in the first half: the defense was disorganized and the SV Odin players stole many balls from the rucks. Even Ella barely manages to stay on her feet in the face of Odin’s strong tackles. 0:29 after just seven minutes! Of course, the BiBos can’t let that stand. Take a deep breath. The players fight, Cora even goes for a run. The opponents don’t score another try. Final score: 0:29 for SV Odin. <\/p>\n
Lunch break – and the game continues at 2 p.m. against the hosts SG Hanse Ostsee. The match was not under a good star: Lea has to leave the pitch injured in the first half. In the second half, Anja and Leonie ignite a so-called “friendly fire” and also have to leave the pitch. The rest of the team under captain Melanie held up well, even if there seemed to be a lack of structure with so many changes. Nadine manages an exit kick. With a try from Beni, the final score is 5:29 for the hosts from Wismar. <\/p>\n
Getting ready for the last game against SG BOB. The battered squad is replenished by four great players from SG Hanse Ostsee – thanks for that! The BiBos are exhausted, but hold out. The BiBos leave the last game with a final score of 0:29 for SG BOB. That’s something to be proud of against the tournament winners! <\/p>\n
In the end, SG BiBo finishes in a proud fourth place – which is duly celebrated with the “brackish water” they won. Anna is named “Panda of the Day” for the second time in a row. “Hammer of the day” goes to Beni. A strong performance – also by the entire team, as Anna rightly put it in her extensive speech. Fina also deserves praise for her great official debut in the SG BiBo. <\/p>\n
After the strenuous tournament, the players are in need of refreshment. So: off to the Baltic Sea! In the ice-cold water, of course, they continue to tackle and lift. A successful end to the day! <\/p>\n
