Brave lions lose in Wiedenbr\u00fcck<\/p>\n
After a week’s break to digest the derby win against Cologne and prepare for the first of a triple-header, the Lions faced a tough task from the outset as they traveled to Wiedenbr\u00fcck with a thin squad to face a top team.
\nThe Lions showed a lot of heart and fighting spirit from the outset, put Wiedenbr\u00fcck under strong physical pressure and were able to string together some good phases early on and were rewarded with the first points of the game with a successful penalty from captain Johni.
\nDespite Wiedenbr\u00fcck scoring a couple of tries in the first half, the Lions kept the pressure on the scoreboard and remained within striking distance after a brave first 40 minutes.<\/p>\n
Despite their best efforts, the boys were unable to withstand the pressure of a full Wiedenbr\u00fcck team and lost 52:20 in the end. However, the result alone does not reflect the true story of the game. The boys fought tooth and nail for each other and as a team and kept Wiedenbr\u00fcck on their toes for long stretches of the game.
\nThere were many highlights, including Pablo Sotille’s masterful performance with four steals in defensive lineouts. Fortunately for the Lions, there were no injuries and the chance to shake off this defeat and get back on track comes in their next home game against SG Ruhrpott.<\/p>\n
