The SG team was full and 4 players were sent to Düsseldorf as pool players.
In the first game of the tournament, the strong league leaders from Münster awaited SG Bielefeld-Bonn. Both teams showed a strong performance in defense and so the first half passed without a try, despite good chances for SG. In the second half, the team from Münster was able to assert itself several times and win the game 0-25.
In their second game, SG BiBo took on the team from Düsseldorf. Fredda opened the game with a wonderful sprint on the wing and was able to place the ball in the middle of the uprights. She converted the subsequent kick to put the SG 7-0 up on the scoreboard. The next try was not long in coming, from a solid scrum Fredda started another run, maneuvering past two opponents to score SG’s second try of the tournament, 14-0. Another chance was created by Nadine who made a strong break through the Düsseldorf line, she was stopped three meters short of the tryline but Fredda was on hand as her support player to take the ball over the line, 19-0 to SG! In the second half, the team from Düsseldorf scored a try with a strong run by Bonn pool player Benilde across half the pitch. Liz (Bielefeld) countered with an equally strong run and scored another try for the SG. A short time later, Nadine forced two players from Düsseldorf to concentrate on her with a well-placed run, which left Fredda open on the wing. After a short pass, Fredda was able to score her 4th try and the game ended 31-5 for SG BiBo.
In their third game, the hosts took on the team from Wiedenbrück. Vanessa got the SG on the scoreboard first with a try, 5-0 for BiBo. Shortly afterwards, Wiedenbrück equalized the score. Over the course of the game, the SG showed strong dominance in the scrum, winning the ball several times. The young team from Wiedenbrück countered this with a fast defensive play that was able to win the ball back in tackles and scored 2 more tries in the 2nd half. The game thus went to Wiedenbrück 5-17.
In the last game of the tournament, the SG faced the team from Cologne. Shortly after the start of the game, Cologne scored a try, but the kick to increase the score was missed, so the score was 0-5. Despite strong work by SG, Cologne were able to score 2 more tries. In the second half, SG gained more control of the game and established themselves in Cologne’s half, but were unfortunate to fail several times just before the tryline. In the final seconds of the game, Fredda won the ball near the halfway line, kicked in the direction of Cologne’s half field and was able to recover her own kick. However, she was stopped just a few meters from the tryline, a second attempt to place the ball was started directly from the ruck, but was also successfully fended off by the team from Cologne. The game ended 0-17 for the tournament winners from Cologne. After the SG struggled at the start of the season to turn the little match practice they had together into something that counted, the team put in an outstanding team performance, defended hard and scored several tries. Both teams are particularly proud of the many inexperienced players who are increasingly developing into important pillars of the team! Liz for Bielefeld and Fredda for Bonn more than deservedly received the Golden Shoe award:

RSV Cologne

RT Münster

Wiedenbrücker TV

SG Bielefeld-Bonn

Düsseldorf Dragons

Text: Robert Lott
Photos: Timo Jakobs

SG BiBo finds its rhythm: A first victory This year’s Autumn Cup in Bonn kicked off on 26.10.24 in warm, sunny weather.
