Four weeks after the SG Bielefeld-Bonn started the season, the team traveled to D\u00fcsseldorf on October 12 to compete in the second league tournament. The coaches were able to draw from the full pool, and one player could even be permanently assigned to Wiedenbr\u00fcck as a pool player. <\/p>\n

The ladies initially had the hosts in front of them. After the first half was overslept and the half-time score was 0:12 for D\u00fcsseldorf, the SG came back. Vanessa set off on a spectacular sprint towards Malfeld just behind the halfway line – she left two defenders standing with beautiful steps and took the ball to the far right. The increase was not successful. Shortly afterwards, Kim blocked a D\u00fcsseldorf kick from the 5-meter zone, but was unfortunately unable to reward herself with the try as the hosts reacted quickly and put the ball down. In the final minute of the game, the SG managed to score the follow-up try – again a chain of passes to the outside went to Vanessa, and again she was able to run into the paint. Here, too, the increase was missed, albeit narrowly. The final score was therefore 10:12 for the hosts. <\/p>\n

The players were more ambitious for the second game against Dortmund. However, Dortmund were able to put the first points on the board. Shortly afterwards, the SG counter-attacked: Fredda broke away from the scrum on the short side and, after a beautiful support run, Nadine was able to lay off to the far right, served perfectly by Leonie. Unfortunately, they did not manage to increase the score, which meant the score was 5:5. The game became more and more evenly matched, but Dortmund were able to cleverly exploit a shift error in defense shortly before the end of the half – the score at half-time was 5:10. The second half also began with points for Dortmund, but from SG’s point of view after a wrong decision by the referee – the score was 5:17. Fredda was unable to convert a remarkable advance after a scrum into points; on the contrary, the support was too slow in the crucial second, allowing Dortmund to convert the turnover into the last try of the game. The final score was 5:24, which meant that Wiedenbr\u00fcck was the next opponent and after a short break, the ladies started the last game of the day. A little exhaustion was noticeable here, with two missed tackles initially leading to a score of 0:14. However, this was followed by a courageous phase play by the SG in Wiedenbr\u00fcck’s half. They attacked again and again, but were always thwarted by their opponents’ strong defense. A brief moment of attention led to the next counter-attack, with the score now 0:21. However, the last points of the half went to the SG: After a penalty kick, Nadine outpaced the defense and ran into the paint again. The first try of the second half went to Wiedenbr\u00fcck again, but this was followed by an interesting game with beautiful runs by the backline, led by Fredda. Unfortunately, this fighting spirit did not result in any more points. The final score was 7:33. <\/p>\n

Although they lost all their games on the day, there was a clear improvement on the last tournament. Now it’s time to continue working on the finer points so that more can be gained at the Autumn Cup on October 26 in Bonn. The ladies are looking forward to any support on the sidelines! <\/p>\n
