\nSince this season, the Pandas have been playing together with the women of the 1st Rugby Club Bielefeld in the German women’s 7s league again.
\nFor the first tournament, 9 players (Leonie, Clara, Ella and Anna for Bonn) traveled to M\u00fcnster in bright sunshine and pleasant temperatures.
\nOur team faced a derby against Cologne in the very first game.
\nThe experienced players from the cathedral city didn’t give them much of a chance and so the young team had to concede defeat after a rather one-sided game with a score of 0:57.
\nIn the second game, the supposedly easier opponent D\u00fcsseldorf Dragons awaited our players.
\nIn this game, Jules, who supported us as a pool player throughout the tournament, scored the first try with a breakthrough.
\nShe first sprinted across half the field only to be stopped by a tackle just before the line.
\nHowever, she didn’t let this put her off and was back on her feet faster than her opponent, allowing her to successfully dive into the paint just seconds later.
\nUnfortunately, this was to be the only score of the day.
\nNevertheless, the team fought resolutely for every ball and, after a game almost played at eye level, had to concede defeat in the end with a very narrow 5:17.
\nIn the match for fifth place, league newcomers Wiedenbr\u00fccker TV awaited SG BiBo with its still very young team of U18 players.
\nEven though their opponents were perhaps less physically matched at one point or another, they were a little more lively and technically adept.
\nAs a result, the final score was 0:54.
\nAs our team had a rather thin roster, we were grateful for the support from other teams.
\nLeonie and Melanie (Bielefeld) also played a game for the six players from Dortmund.
\nSpecial mention must be made of Clara (Bonn) and Melanie (Bielefeld)<\/strong>, who earned the title of player of the day<\/strong> with their strong performances.
\nIn addition, Ella and Anna made their strong debut for Bonn in the German 7s league.
\nWe are extremely proud of them and look forward to seeing more of them.
\nAll in all, it was still a good start and the game against D\u00fcsseldorf in particular gives us a lot of positives to take away.
\nHowever, the results also show that there are still some areas to work on.
\nThe next tournament in D\u00fcsseldorf will show how the team can develop until then, hopefully with a full squad.
