In the last 4 weeks, both youth teams had their last games\/tournaments of the season, with unfortunately different results.<\/p>\n
U14 is NRW Champion 2024! <\/strong><\/p>\n After a successful season, the SG K\u00f6ln\/Bonn was able to celebrate its first victory on 25.05. The team finished the season in Cologne with victories against Wiedenbr\u00fcck and Aachen and thus won the U14 league with only one defeat in the entire year. While the team had to admit defeat to the Wiedenbr\u00fcck team at the end of the German U14 Championships and therefore finished in 12th place, they got their revenge in the Cologne mud. The team achieved a clear 41:19 victory.<\/p>\n Following an invitation from Heusenstamm, we went on 8.6. for the young rugby players to a friendly tournament, where the team met Rottweil, Germania List and the host and was able to fight for some final successes to end the season. However, the first game against Heusenstamm was clearly lost to the hosts, so the motivation to do better against Rottweil was very high. The SG succeeded in doing so and won 54:05 thanks to structured attacking play and strong defending. In the last game of the day, the team wanted to take revenge for the narrow defeat at Germania List in the German Championship. However, the game went to the Hanover team by a clear 41:00, not least due to a number of injuries.<\/p>\n U16 has a hard time despite great development<\/strong><\/p>\n During the same period, the U16s also had their last two games in Wiedenbr\u00fcck and at St. Pauli. Against Wiedenbr\u00fcck, with whom they will form an SG next season, they finally had to win again, just like in the first leg in Cologne. However, the calculation did not quite work out and the home side’s backline in particular dominated the game, which meant they were ultimately defeated 45:14. Damian and Timoth\u00e9e both scored the tries for SG K\u00f6ln-Bonn. Although the game was lost, it should be emphasized that some key players played the game despite intensive weeks with NRW selection camps and that the actually still inexperienced front row in the position around Nikolas, Selma and Sammy played really well.<\/p>\n With motivation in their bellies, they traveled north to Hamburg the following week to face St. Pauli, against whom they played one of the most impressive matches of the season in the first leg. While the game was generally on an equal footing, the ball found its way into Bonn’s own goal area from time to time, which meant that St. Pauli were ultimately awarded a strong victory (41:05). However, the clear final result did not reflect the SG’s good play by a long shot, and they still fought to the end. The performances of Jannis and Arne, who helped out from the U14 team and had their first taste of youth league action, deserve special mention.
