In drizzling rain, a full Cologne-Bonn team proved dominant in the first half, taking the lead through a try from Lock Julius and showing defensive alertness and strength. The front line of Rooney, Niko and Henry in particular were very active on both sides of the ball. They went into the break with a score of 0:5. Hamburg proved stronger after the break and the backline in particular made a few meters. Nevertheless, it was full-back Florian who, after a kick, laid the ball off deep from his own 22 with a solo run in the malfield and increased the score to 0:10. This time, however, Hamburg had an answer at the ready and responded with a try themselves. The game now followed the same pattern: another try by Julius, completed after wonderful phases by Milan and Ivo, only to concede another try in return. Florian’s second solo run for five points was also answered almost immediately with a try from Hamburg, making it 17:22. Hamburg then added a try and conversion in the final 3 minutes, which meant that the game was unfortunately lost 24:22 away from home.<\/p>\n
