Youth rugby day in Cologne with hut magic<\/h1>\n
It was supposed to be a great day of rugby at Rugby Park Cologne, with the U8 to U12 matches still accompanied by a subdued December gray, but the U16 encounter was graced with very icy weather.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

We were delighted to take part in this day. A big thank you therefore goes to the invitation from Cologne.
\nFor our U8-U12 players, these were even their first matches with international participation.<\/p>\n

RSV K\u00f6ln had invited the following clubs:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Apeldoorn<\/li>\n
  • Enschede<\/li>\n
  • D\u00fcsseldorf Dragons<\/li>\n
  • Rugby Club Bonn-Rhein-Sieg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The groundsman had the foresight to lay out the student pitches in the Malfeld and Malaus areas to protect the pitch for the U16s.<\/p>\n

    There were exciting encounters on the marked out fields, accompanied by an interesting mix of languages.
    \nOur players, accompanied by our coach Ava, put up a good fight and gave their all for a good result with Cologne.
    \nEveryone proudly takes home the international playing experience and practice.<\/p>\n

    After the games, the hut magic began. Beautifully decorated huts lured visitors with pre-Christmas scents and all kinds of goodies and brought a smile to the faces of children, parents and visitors.<\/p>\n

    After the award ceremony, Santa Claus unexpectedly surprised all the children with a little something.
    \nWith delicious potato soup and a cr\u00eape or two in their bellies, our youth players went home satisfied.<\/p>\n

    U16 League North <\/strong>
    \nThe U16 players traveled by train from the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, the gateway to the world. If you like, it was also an international encounter.<\/p>\n

    Unfortunately, Hamburger RC was only able to travel with 11 players, but was filled by our SG K\u00f6ln-Bonn. So we were able to play 15 against 15 and then later 14 against 14.
    \nThe first half was really strong, we led 24:12, but in the second half, in the coldest conditions, the selection training carried out by 5 players beforehand became noticeable and our strength dwindled. Unfortunately, we conceded a try in the last second and the game ended 34:34.<\/p>\n

    It is clear that the players have excelled themselves under the most adverse conditions and have achieved an incredible amount.<\/p>\n

    Four players played for Bonn. Congratulations to Sammy for his first game, Friedrich for good actions on the wing and to Nick and Flo for really strong games as top performers, even after the selection training.<\/p>\n
